With more rain in the forecast today is the day to be here. The river is down some and visibility is slightly improved. We suggest chucking bright streamers towards the banks and expect some hungry fish to take. If you do see some bugs and fish rising to them then switch over. And consider getting mom a guided fishing trip. Teach her to fly fish or if she's already out fishing you get her float trip. The USGS gauge is acting up this morning, but flows are ~1600 CFS.

To step up your fishing game this year, make sure you're enrolled in Matt Supinski's Selectivity course May 20 & 21. This is a two day course which will have you stepping up your game and getting you on more quality fish this year and beyond. Matt truly unlocks the techniques and knowledge you will want to add to your bag. Call the shop to book your spot.

River Report
River Flow ~1600 CFS - Visibility 1-2' and improving - AM Water Temp 54°F. - Today will be mostly sunny. East wind 6-8mph. Today's high temp will be 61°. Tonight's low temp will be 34°.

General fishing conditions for this time of year are as follows. CT DEEP has stocked all of the following areas; The Wall, The Park, Corner Pool, Monument, Sand Hole, Garbage Hole, The Elms, Abutment & Push'em Up. Green caddis should be on the water now so make sure you have plenty of pupae, emergers and dries. If you come to fish the river in the morning, start by fishing streamers. When you get some fish on streamers switch to nymphing as the Hendrickson nymphs will be active in the mornings. Stop in the shop to Stock up on Streamers,  Hendrickson; Nymphs , Emergers, Duns & Spinners. Tune-up your fly vest by cleaning out the old leaders & tippet spools and replacing them with fresh new leaders & tippet spools. Reorganize your flies into new boxes. Check to see how much floatant, lead shot, strike indicators, tippet rings are left over from last year or bring your gear into the shop and we can help you tune it up for the coming season.  If your fly line is becoming stiff or cracked it's time to change it. You can bring your fly reel to the shop and we can machine wind a new fly line with free backing !!  If your favorite rod has broken guides, tip tops, missing hook keeper or needs new wraps.......Bring it down to the shop for repair.

We like the following patterns: Dry; Light & Dark Hendricksons, Hendrickson Emergers, Hendrickson Spinners w/ Egg Sack, Circus Peanuts,  Zonkers, Woolly Buggers, Pick Yur' Pocket,  Hares Ear (12-16), BH Princes (10-16), BH Pheasant Tails (12-18), Rubber Legs (all colors), 20 Incher's (8-16) & Euro Bead Head Princes. Don't forget to try a San Juan or Yellow Stone Mop Fly, too. We recommend a drop rig for maximum effectiveness and use an indicator to make sure you don't miss any takes. Try the AirLock indicators if you haven't already. They are the best!
